I started as an Airbnb host in Alexandria in 2013 as a way to make extra income while out of town. I discovered that I really enjoyed preparing my home for guests, communicating with them, and helping them to enjoy visiting the local area. My mom owned and operated a traditional bed-and-breakfast on Eastern Long Island when I was in college, and I learned much of what I know about guest hospitality from her. (She should see me now! She would laugh, as I used to complain about needing a reservation to come home for the weekend).
Over the years I have stayed in dozens of vacation rentals. Each time, I noticed areas for improvement. Realizing that many hosts who self-manage were not providing the level of service I expected, I decided to begin short-term rental consultation and management.
In early 2021 I formed Harmonized Hosting, LLC, (dba Harmonized Getaways). That year I also purchased a second home in Irvington, VA in the Northern Neck as both a vacation home for myself, and to rent to guests. In 2022 I left my government job and moved to Irvington full-time to help other vacation rental owners provide a top-notch, personalized stay for guests while also maximizing profits.
And, in 2023 I purchased another rental in Montross, VA in the Upper Northern Neck. It is a round house with a seventies vibe!
I have one daughter, one dog (our Canine Co-Host Autumn), and like to hike, play pickleball and tennis, dabble in watercolors, and decorate.
